SnowGoer magazine carried a five-page story in their November 2018 issue on my RXL SnoPro racer kit for Indys from 1983 to 1997. The story was written by the builder, Jeff Oberg from Alexandria, MN.
Go buy that issue before it leaves the newsstands.Add a comment
This weird looking motorcycle thing is going to be part of my forthcoming new YouTube video on the hows and whys of flat track sliding. This thing is a sliding demo device. This teaching aid is a bunch easier than using a real, heavy, unwieldy motorcycle in a studio. One of the concepts the video will cover is “Chop/Drop/Squirt,” the very secret to sliding.
The Dice Brothers, an AMA district 23 flat track promoter, in St. Charles Minnesota (20 miles south of Rochester) has made a Flat-head, Pull-start Mini Bike class available in the their three 2019 flat track races. All the normal AMA D-23 classes will run too including Hooligan. Their first race in August 2018 drew over 100 entries so they are on the way. The lighted track is a wonderfully wide and a banked 1/3 mile oval in front of great grand stands. I have pronounced it the best flat track in the state of Minnesota. It’ll be great place to race so gear up.
I have made it my duty to build this vintage mini class for the Dice brothers. So you dirt trackers with an old mini laying back in the shop have a whole year to get it ready. Before you shoe the spiders away I want you to write me at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me to put you on the potential class list.Add a comment
Recently a fellow flat tracker from Michigan said out of the blue, “You know what’s missing from YouTube?” Immediately I answered “sliding” and he said “yep!” Both he and I had been searching the same subject and YouTube has nothing on the subject.
I am planning a YouTube video presentation on this very subject and I’m going to break it all down into detail--things like the two most important parts of a race track and one ain’t the start! Little hint... see this apparently normal DT photo? After my video you’d be able to diagnose instantly what is going on. It is part of my 3% vs 97% observations.

Last weekend we attended the Republic of Texas Biker Rally in Austin, TX. A flat track race was a side show to the Biker Rally. They had classes for Open Pro Flat Track, a SuperMoto AMA Sanctioned Class and a Hooligan class.
I entered the Hooligan class with my Phil Little Street Tracker along with two other Texans who had your rear wheel conversion kits. The track was a 3/8 mile. All three of we Hooligan Racers had your parts on our Harleys! A guy who raced in the Open Pro Class jumped down to enter the Hooligan Class on a Ducati and of course won the Hooligan Main Event. [Editor: this was a big time promoter error. It’s always a bad idea to mix pros with amateurs.]Add a comment
